Tamang Heritage Trail Trek

Welcome to Kathmandu – the capital city of Nepal. Today is your first day with Trek Ways Nepal. Our company representatives will receive you at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), who will further escort you to the hotel. If possible, we also schedule a meeting at our office or in the hotel for the briefing regarding the trek followed by an introduction session with other team members (especially Sherpas and guides). After this, our guide will check your gear and help you to pack if time permits. If your flight arrives late, the meeting, and gear checking can be scheduled for the following day. Overnight at the hotel located in downtown Thamel.

The capital, Kathmandu Valley itself, is a big storehouse of exclusive natural, cultural, and historical sites. Therefore, today, we take you on a few-hour tour of the major attractions of Kathmandu Valley. We do cover 4 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, they are Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swyambhunath Stupa, Boudhnath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple. After spending a few hours observing these wonderful sites, we again meet for a few hours to finalize your clothing and trekking gear (down jacket, sleeping bags, etc.) required during the trek. The night will be spent at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Today our destination is Syabrubesi. It’s a 7-8 hour drive from Kathmandu. Therefore, we start early right after the breakfast. Our guide will come to pick you up at your hotel as per the scheduled departure time and escort you to the bus station to catch a bus to Syabrubesi. The journey to Syabrubeshi begins towards the north of Kathmandu Valley following the Pasang Lamu highway along the north-western hills of Kathmandu passing different settlements. A well-paved highway continues to Dhunche, the district headquarters of Rasuwa and finally, road descends to Syabrubensi. The night will be spent at a lodge in Syabrubensi.

After breakfast in Sybrubesi lodge, the trail ascend towards to the view point from where you will have a great view of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and tibetian pleatue. The trail descent to the Tamang village, Gatlang which is beautiful settlement. After lunch at the lodge, walk around the village through small alley. Overnight at the lodge.

Breakfast at the lodge and start your trek Tatopani, literally means hot water in Nepali.  The trail decends to Thangbuchet near Chilime village by the Bhotekoshi River. You can see Chilime Hydropower dam on the way then crossing  the bridge to reach Tatopani village. Visit Tatopani hot spring in the evening to take a bath on the lap of mountains. The hot spring is believed to have healing quality that wash away your aches, pains and sin. Many locals go there to take holy bath. Overnight at the lodge.

Your destination today is Thuman.  The trail leads uphill to Nagthali Danda (3300m) from where you will have beautiful view of snow covered mountains and peaks. After some rest at Nagthali Dada, the trail continues to Thuman, Tamang village. Overnight at the lodge running by family. We can go in to the kitchen and watch how mother cooks meal.  In the evening, village walk can be done to watch the lifestyle of Tamang.

Breakfast at the lodge and trek down to Timure (the old trade route to Tibet).  Rasuwagadi (Nepal-Tibet border) is just short walk from here. However, we will not have time so we continue walk to Briddim (another Tamang village). You will have a home stay here. In the home stay you will eat their traditional food with them, sleep on the same kind of bed they sleep on. Tibetan tea and Briddim wine which you should not miss to try that is  prepared by the host family. You can participate in the cooking as well. You can enjoy their indoor rituals. In the evening local people will gather and perform their traditional and cultural song and dance to welcome you. It is truly interesting to watch. Overnight at the homestay.

Today is the last day of your trek. Breakfast at the homestay with family and trek down to Syabrubeshi. Sybrubesi is business hub of this area so you can explore local market and walk little further to the Bhotekoshi river. Overnight at the lodge.

Today is your last day in the Langtang region as we drive back to Kathmandu. Following a paved way, the bus will move towards Dhunche and continue to Pasang Lamhu Highway. Stop over Trisuli for Lunch and continue to Kathmandu. Check in to the hotel and in the evening we again meet up for a farewell dinner where we also discuss your trek and collect feedback. Overnight in Kathmandu Hotel.

This day is the last day of your trip to Nepal with Trek Ways Nepal. If your flight is scheduled for early morning, then one of our company representatives will escort you to the airport as per your flight departure time. But, if the flight is scheduled for later in the evening, you can go shopping and collect a few mementos or simply hang around shopping areas in Kathmandu. However, if you are planning to spend some extra days in Nepal, Trek Ways Nepal can also make arrangements for some other top adventurous activities that you can attend while you are in Nepal.
